Life Without Facebook

This is something for all you Facebook admins out there.

I adminned a total of 23 pages for a year and owned about 7 of them, the biggest of which had 24 thousand likes. On one, I ran a custom timeline cover/edit service, which had never been going better.
I devoted hours each day of my time to these pages. The service reached 2 new requests each day, and each request would take around 40 minutes each.
Recently, my Facebook account was compromised, and all this hard work was lost. I was genuinely upset - if there's one thing I hate, it is my time being wasted.
But let me tell you something.
Two weeks later, I am writing this. Why? Because I have something. Something I never had before.

I have always wanted to set up a blog - it's something about writing and expressing myself, but so others can acknowledge it too - and finally I have the chance to make it happen.
Facebook would constantly take up my time. Once you're on it, you don't even realise how long you've been on there till you look outside the window and all of a sudden it's dark. The trouble is, I never even knew what I was missing. Surely I needed to know all that was going on; whether my friends were online, or whether my pages needed attending to and had notifications?

Well, as much as I miss the experience, there is almost a feeling of relief. Have I gone offline completely? No. For one thing, I have now created this blog. And for another, I've decided to move over to tumblr and post more there. But I find myself no longer worrying about what's going on one social networking site. I occasionally scroll through tumblr (mainly to keep up with the fandoms I am part of) and will continue to update this blog (as a way of ranting/raving/expressing myself), but otherwise, the days last much longer. I've gotten into photography and enjoy myself outside much more. I don't have more of a social life exactly, as it's difficult meeting up with friends who don't live near me at the moment (besides, it takes ages to arrange transport, let alone what we're going to do and the times) but I can vary my day, just relax - and concentrate on schoolwork which is very important at the moment!

It may sound silly, but I can also watch more TV. You won't believe how much better that is than staying in my room, cooped up right in front of a screen. And you can't get into petty arguments with a TV screen - that's another thing I won't be missing about Facebook.

Thank you for taking the time to read my very first post!
